"Treat You Better" adalah lagu yang direkam oleh penyanyi dan penulis lagu asal Kanada, Shawn Mendes. Lagu ini ditulis bersama oleh Mendes dengan Teddy Geiger dan Scott Harris. Lagu ini dirilis pada 3 Juni 2016 melalui Island Records sebagai singel utama dari album studio keduanya, Illuminate (2016).^[3] Musik video lagu ini dirilis pada 12 Juli 2016 dan menampilkan alur cerita tentang hubungan yang kejam.^[4] Lagu ini memuncak di nomor enam di Billboard Hot 100 Amerika Serikat, menjadi top 10 kedua Mendes. Di Kanada, lagu ini memuncak di nomor tujuh di Canadian Hot 100.

Penerimaan

Billboard memberikan "Treat You Better" peringkat di nomor 42 pada daftar "100 Best Pop Songs of 2016".^[5] Jon Caramanica dari The New York Times menamakannya lagu terbaik kedelapan tahun 2016.^[6]

Musik Video

Musik video dirilis pada 12 Juli 2016.^[7] Video menampilkan plot di sekitar situasi kekerasan antara pasangan. Video tersebut memperlihatkan seorang gadis yang dilecehkan oleh pacarnya dalam berbagai situasi, sementara Mendes berharap untuk bersamanya dan berjuang untuk memahami mengapa dia lebih suka berada dalam hubungan itu. Video berakhir menampilkan nomor untuk Hotline Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga Nasional.^[8] Musik video juga dibintangi Ellie Stuart Hunter^[9] bermain dengan gitar, drum dan rebana.
