Topi kufi

Topi kufi atau kufi adalah topi tanpa pinggiran, pendek, dan bulat yang dikenakan oleh pria di banyak populasi di Afrika Utara, Afrika Timur, Afrika Barat, Asia Selatan, dan Timur Tengah.^[1] Ini juga dipakai oleh pria di seluruh diaspora Afrika. Topi ini memiliki hubungan yang kuat dengan banyak budaya Islam dan kebanggaan pan-Afrika.^[2] Di Amerika Serikat dan Inggris, hal ini juga disebut "taqiyah".^[3]^[4]^[5]^[6]

Topi kufi tidak spesifik untuk satu negara saja, meskipun mungkin sebagian besar dikaitkan dengan Nigeria.^[7] Di Togo, kufi terbuat dari kain berwarna-warni, dan sering dipakai saat acara penting seperti pernikahan, festival, dan upacara lainnya.^[8] Dalam pertunjukan Mama Tchamba, kufi dipakai sebagai hiasan saat menari.^[9] Dalam komunitas Islam di Afrika Barat, kufi dipakai saat salat.^[10]
