The Year of "Yes" (bergaya sebagai The year of "Yes") adalah penerbitan ulang dari EP keenam girl grup Korea Selatan Twice Yes or Yes . Ini dirilis oleh JYP Entertainment pada 12 Desember 2018. Penerbitan ulang berisi tujuh lagu awal dari Yes or Yes, bersama dengan dua lagu baru: "The Best Thing I Ever Did" dan versi Korea dari "Be As One" dari album Jepang grup BDZ .

Latar belakang dan rilis

Twice pertama kali mengumumkan perilisan album spesial yang akan datang pada 3 Desember 2018, dengan judul The Year of "Yes" bersama dengan judul lagu "The Best Thing I Ever Did", yang dijadwalkan akan dirilis pada 12 Desember. Penggoda foto grup untuk album spesial tersebut diunggah di akun media sosial pada hari yang sama.[2] Foto teaser individu yang menampilkan Nayeon, Jeongyeon, dan Momo diunggah pada tanggal 4 Desember, bersama dengan daftar lagu untuk The Year of "Yes" , mengungkapkan bahwa JYPark dan Park Ji-min telah berkolaborasi untuk menulis dan menyusun judul lagu album. Juga diumumkan bahwa album tersebut akan menyertakan versi Korea dari "Be As One" dari album yang sebelumnya dirilis Twice, BDZ. [3][4] Pada 5 Desember, grup tersebut merilis foto teaser individu yang menampilkan Sana, Jihyo, dan Mina.[4] On December 6, the last set of individual teaser photos featuring Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu were released.[5] Foto teaser grup tambahan diunggah pada 7 Desember.[6]

Pada 8 Desember, Twice mengupload teaser video musik pertama mereka untuk "The Best Thing I Ever Did". Teaser kedua diunggah keesokan harinya[7][8] Pratinjau audio untuk lagu utama album dirilis oleh grup pada 10 Desember.[9] Album medley yang menampilkan cuplikan untuk "The Best Thing I Ever Did" dan "Be As One" (versi Korea) diupload pada 11 Desember.[10]

The Year of "Yes" bersama judul lagu secara resmi dirilis pada 12 Desember, 6PM KST.[11]

Komposisi

The Year of "Yes" berisi dua lagu baru. Judul lagu "The Best Thing I Ever Did" ditulis dan disusun oleh JYPark dan Park Ji-min, dan diklasifikasikan sebagai lagu R&B alternatif yang mencampurkan suara pop khas Twice untuk menciptakan "kepekaan musim dingin yang hangat. " Lagu yang terinspirasi liburan ini secara lirik menggambarkan kenangan bertemu orang yang dicintai selama musim liburan. Lagu tersebut tercatat sebagai contoh pertama Twice yang menampilkan genre R&B. Lagu kedua, "Be As One", adalah versi Korea dari lagu Jepang mereka dari BDZ , dan diklasifikasikan sebagai lagu balada.[11]

Performa komersial

The Year of "Yes" memulai debutnya di nomor 2 di Tangga Album Gaon Mingguan.[12] Ini menjadi album terlaris ketiga di Gaon untuk bulan Desember, menjual total 196.034 eksemplar. Dengan ini, album tersebut berada di peringkat ke-23 di Gaon Album Chart untuk tahun 2018.[13][14]
