The First adalah album Jepang pertama dari boyband Korea Selatan, SHINee. Album ini dirilis pada 7 Desember 2011 di Jepang, dibawah label EMI Music Japan.[1] Album ini juga merilis beberapa lagu dari album Korea, seperti, "Replay", "Juliette", dan "Lucifer", ketiga lagu ini mendapat top 3 di chart Oricon..[2]

Lima lagu dari album sebelumnya juga dirilis di album ini, "Replay", "Juliette" dan "Lucifer".[2]

Tanggal perilisan album Jepang ini diumumkan pada 23 November 2011 tapi ditunda sampai tanggal 7 Desember 2011.[3]

Fitur album lima lagu baru selain remake Jepang Korea tujuh lagu dirilis sebelumnya. Versi biasa dari album juga akan menampilkan lagu tema untuk Stranger 6 dan lagu berjudul "Stranger" menjadi bonus tracknya.[1]

Pada tanggal 13 Januari 2012, diumumkan bahwa album pertama Shinee "The First" mendapat sertifikat "Gold" karena telah menjual lebih dari 100.000 kopi.[4]
