Tari Perut di Marrakech

Tari perut (Bahasa Ingggris: abdominal dance atau belly dance) juga dikenal sebagai Tari Arab[1][2] (bahasa Arab: رقص شرقي, translit. Raqs sharqi, artinya: "tarian oriental"), merupakan tari ekspresif Arab[3][4][5][6] berasal dari Mesir[7] adalah jenis tarian yang memperlihatkan bagian rahim atau perut mendapat tekanan gerakan.[8][9] Tari perut ini biasanya dilakukan secara individual dengan mengandalkan lenggokan batang tubuh.[9]

Gambaran tari perut

Gerakan-gerakan rahim pada tari perut bersifat berputar dan atau menggelepar.[8] bagian yang paling sering diperlihatkan juga adalah pinggul.[10] Tari perut lazim dilakukan oleh perempuan.[8] Dalam pelaksanaan tari perut, biasanya penari mengenakan pakaian daerah atau pakaian nasional dan diiringi musik yang diciptakan rakyat setempat.[8] Gerakan tari perut identik dengan mengalun seperti aliran air, tetapi terjadi hentakan-hentakan stakato sehingga tarian tampak enerjik.[11] Alunan gerakan seiring dengan bit musik.[11]

Nama tari perut di berbagai daerah

Ada beberapa nama tari perut khas daerah masing-masing, di antaranya adalah, tari fangando di Spanyol, tari polka di Bohemia, tari czardas di Hungaria, tari jig di Irlandia, dan tari fling di Skotlandia.[8]
