Takeru Kobayashi (小林 尊, Kobayashi Takeru, kelahiran 15 Maret 1978) adalah seorang peserta lomba makan asal Jepang. Ia memegang beberapa rekor, termasuk enam Rekor Guinness, untuk memakan hot dog, bakso, Twinkies, hamburger, pizza dan pasta.

Lahir di Nagano, Jepang, Kobayashi meraih rekor pertamanya dalam penampilan pertamanya pada 4 Juli 2001, ketika ia memakan 50 hot dog dalam 12 menit di kontes memakan hot dog Nathan's di Pulau Coney, mengalahkan rekor sebelumnya yang berjumlah 25.

Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi, 32, dari Jepang, dicokok dari arena setelah mencoba mengganggu panggung kontes di New York dan mengganggu upacara kemenangan Joey "Jaws" Chestnut warga Amerika.

Warga Jepang ini sebelumnya diusir keluar dari acara yang digelar 4 Juli di Coney Island, Brooklyn, karena bertengkar dengan panitia. Orang-meneriakkan: "Biarkan dia makan. Biarkan dia makan," tetapi polisi memborgol Kobayashi dan membawanya pergi.

Absennya Kobayashi membuat Chestnut, 26 tahun menjadi juara, setelah menyingkirkan pesaing lain dan merebut hadiah US$ 20.000 atau sekitar Rp 180 juta. Acara ini telah menjadi sangat populer di Amerika yang ditampilkan di saluran televisi kabel ESPN.

Kobayashi mengklaim memenangi enam gelar berturut-turut di Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest sebelum dikuasai warga Amerika pada tahun 2007, 2008 dan 2009. Pada kontes tahun ini, wajah Chestnut telah berkerut kesakitan saat ia menelan 54 sosis sebelum habis.

Polisi New York mengkonfirmasi bahwa Kobayashi dituduh melawan penahanan, melanggar batas, dan mengganggu administrasi pemerintahan.[16]
