Taira no Munemori

Taira no Munemori (平宗盛code: ja is deprecated , 1147 – Juni 19, 1185) merupakan pewaris Taira no Kiyomori, dan salah satu komandan utama klan Taira dalam Perang Genpei.

Ketika ayahnya Taira no Kiyomori berbaring di ranjang kematiannya, Kiyomori menyatakan, di antara keinginan terakhirnya, bahwa semua urusan klan diserahkan ke Munemori. Putra favoritnya dan yang tertua, Shigemori, telah meninggal, sehingga Munemori berada di baris berikutnya.^[1]

Pada 1183, klan saingan Minamoto mendapatkan kekuasaan, dengan Minamoto no Yoshinaka dan Minamoto no Yukiie mengepung ibu kota. Setelah pembelotan Kaisar Go-Shirakawa ke pihak Minamoto, Munemori memimpin pasukannya untuk melarikan diri dari ibu kota ke barat, bersama dengan Kaisar Muda Antoku.^[1]^:293-294

Pada bulan September, Taira mendirikan Pengadilan sementara di Kyūshū dan kemudian di Yashima.^[1]

Munemori ikut serta dalam hampir setiap pertempuran,^[2] dan ditangkap pada Pertempuran Dan-no-ura, dan dieksekusi pada 1185.^[1]^:303,314
