Sup primordial

"Sup primordial", dikenal juga sebagai teori Oparine-Haldane adalah sebuah istilah yang diperkenalkan oleh ahli biologi Soviet Alexander Oparin dan ilmuwan inggris John Burdon Sanderson Haldane. Pada tahun 1924, ia mengusulkan sebuah teori tentang asal usul kehidupan di Bumi melalui perubahan kimia bertahap dari partikel-partikel yang mengandung karbon dalam sup primordial[1].


Ahli Biokimia Robert Shapiro telah meringkas teori "sup primordial" tersebut sebagai berikut:

  1. Bumi muda memiliki atmosfer dengan kandungan kimia yang berbeda dengan kondisi atmosfer bumi saat ini.
  2. Kondisi atmosfer saat itu, diikuti oleh terjadinya berbagai aliran energi, termasuk petir, menimbulkan campuran organik sederhana.
  3. Campuran ini terakumulasi pada sebuah "sup", yang terdapat pada beberapa lokasi seperti garis pantai, samudera, dan lain lain.
  4. Dengan perubahan-perubahan berikutnya, pada campuran sup tersebut terbentuklah molekul kompleks organik yang merupakan cikal bakal kehidupan.
