Sony Pictures Television

Sony Pictures Television Inc. (SPT) adalah studio produksi televisi / pendistribusian Amerika yang beroperasi secara internasional dan merupakan bagian dari Sony Pictures Entertaiment dari perusahaan konglomerat Jepang yang bernama Sony. Perusahaan ini bermarkas di Culver City, California.

Latar belakang

Selain taman pustaka film Sony Pictures Entertainment, SPT memiliki dan mendistribusikan acara dari Tandem Productions, ELP Communications, TeleVentures, Merv Griffin Enterprises, Four D Productions, Barris Industries, Barry & Enright Productions, Stewart Television, dan 2waytraffic. Sejarah

Sejarah SPT ini bisa dilihat kembali ke 1947, ketika Pioneer Telefilms yang didirikan oleh Ralph Cohn, yang ayahnya Jack dan paman Harry mendirikan pula Columbia Pictures. Pioneer dibeli oleh Columbia dan berganti nama menjadi Screen Gems pada tahun 1948, dan reincorporated sebagai Columbia Pictures Television pada tanggal 6 Mei 1974,[13] dan bergabung dengan studio TriStar Televisi (dibentuk pada tahun 1986 dan diluncurkan kembali pada tahun 1991) untuk membentuk Columbia TriStar televisi pada tanggal 21 Februari 1994.[14] Nama ini diberikan untuk mencerminkan merek Sony pada 16 September 2002.[15]

Pada tanggal 24 November 2004, Sony Pictures Television International membentuk usaha gabungan yang disebut Huaso dengan Hua Long Film Digital Produksi Co, Ltd dari Grup Film China di Beijing.[16][17]

Dari 2005 sampai 2006, SPT adalah distributor MGM TV dan taman pustaka film, sebagian karena pembelian konsorsium yang dipimpin Sony MGM. Pada tahun 2006, SPT bergabung dengan Program Partner untuk menangani iklan-penjualan dan hak distribusi untuk serial televisi asing di AS, sebagian besar acara diproduksi di Kanada. Pada tanggal 14 Januari 2009, SPT mengakuisisi Embassy Row, sebuah perusahaan televisi dan produksi digital dengan produser televisi Inggris Michael Davies. Empat belas hari kemudian, SPTI mengakuisisi 50% saham perusahaan produksi TV independen Teleset di Kolombia.[21] Tiga bulan kemudian pada tanggal 1 April, Sony Pictures Entertainment konsolidasi AS dan divisi televisiinternasional ke dalam satu atap. Sony Pictures Television International sekarang beroperasi di dalam penamaan saja.[22]

Pada tanggal 23 Juni, 2011 SPT dibentuk Victory Television, televisi produksi perusahaan yang berbasis di London dimiliki secara bersama oleh Victoria Ashbourne, wakil presiden senior SPT pengembangan kreatif untuk produksi internasional.[23] (Jangan dikelirukan dengan Jim Victory Television, sebuah perusahaan sindikasi sudah bubar yang sebelumnya dimiliki oleh MTM Enterprises.) Pada tanggal 25 September, 2011 Andrea Wong membuka jalan untuk memimpin divisi produksi televisi internasional Sony Pictures Television untuk mengawasi semua usaha internasional untuk studio..[24]

Pada tanggal 19 Januari 2012, SPT mengakuisisi Dolphin Broadcast Services Ltd dan bergabung ke dalam jaringan bisnisnya yang ada di Inggris. SPT juga mengambil saham mayoritas di bisnis penjualan iklan Dolphin.[25][26] Pada tanggal 1 Maret 2012, SPT mengakuisisi saham mayoritas perusahaan produksi independen Silver River Productions di Inggris .da tanggal 31 Mei, SPT meluncurkan Sony Movie Channel dan AXN di Kanada bekerjasama dengan Hollywood Suite. Dua jaringan Hollywood Suites: Hollywood Festival kembali diluncurkan sebagai Sony Movie Channel dan Hollywood Strom sebagai AXN Movies pada tanggal 4 September 2012.[27] Pada tanggal 23 Agustus 2012, SPT mengakuisisi saham mayoritas di Left Bank Pictures, sebuah perusahaan produksi UK yang didirikan oleh Andy Harries, Francis Hopkinson, dan Marigo Kehoe.[28][29]

Pada tanggal 22 Agustus 2013, Sony Pictures Television mengakuisisi saham mayoritas di perusahaan produksi baru Simon Andrae yang bernama Scarlet Media.[30] Namun, dua bulan kemudian, Andrae mengurungkan rencananya untuk Scarlet dan lalu membuka jalan untuk menjadi wakil presiden eksekutif hiburan alternatif untuk Fox.[31] Pada tanggal 16 Desember 2013, Tuvalu Media bergabung dengan perusahaan pembiayaan Karmign dan mengakuisisi 60% saham SPT untuk merebut kembali kemandiriannya. SPT mengakuisisi 60% di Tuvalu pada tahun 2008.[32]
