Dalam politik, sentrisme atau partai tengah menggambarkan pandangan politik atau posisi tertentu yang melibatkan penerimaan atau dukungan terhadap keseimbangan antara tingkat egalitarianisme dan tingkat hierarki sosial atau kesenjangan sosial tertentu, sembari menentang perubahan-perubahan yang dapat menggeser secara signifikan posisi politik masyarakat hingga sangat ke arah kiri ataupun kanan.[1] Posisi kiri tengah dan kanan tengah memperlihatkan adanya keterkaitan terhadap konsep sentrisme politik, sementara tetap memperlihatkan kecenderungan lebih mereka terhadap masing-masing sisi spektrum.
Para pemilih dapat menganggap diri mereka moderat karena beberapa alasan: Pragmatisme, ideologi, atau hal lainnya. Ada pendapat yang menganggap bahwa orang-orang memilih partai-partai "tengah" semata-mata karena alasan statistik.[2]
