Sel ekalapis

Sel ekalapis atau sel monolayer adalah sel kultur yang tumbuh membentuk lembaran pada permukaan dari tempat kultur.[1] Bentuk sel ekalapis merupakan suatu kumpulan sel yang membentuk satu lapisan dan terdapat ikatan antara satu sel dengan sel-sel lainnya. Bentuk sel ini jika ditumbuhkan ke dalam media dapat berikatan dengan dinding labu atau wadah lainnya.[1] Sel ekalapis dapat berupa sel mirip fibroblas dan sel mirip epitelial. Sedangkan sel suspensi biasanya adalah sel menyerupai limpoblas.[1] Sel ekalapis umumnya dapat ditumbuhkan di media DMEM (Dulbecco’s- Modified Eagle Medium).

Contoh dari sel epitelial adalah Sel Hela dan Sel Vero, sedangkan contoh dari sel limpoblas adalah Sel Raji.[2] Sel Raji adalah sel yang didapatkan dari Burkitt lymphoma.[3] Sel HeLa adalah sel yang ditumbuhkan dari kanker serviks wanita Afrika, Henrietta Lacks. Sel HeLa ini adalah sel manusia pertama yang ditumbuhkan secara kontinu pada kultur. Sel Vero adalah jalur sel yang didapatkan dari ginjal monyet hijau Afrika (vervet).[2]
