The development of social media has brought significant changes to business people. In the past, the impact of violating business ethics only spread to the environment around the company. However, in this digital era, the impact can be wider, even to the global level.

According to data from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics for 2015, active users of social media have reached 79 million people. This is where business actors innovate to actively promote through social media and make it a place to update the latest products from their businesses. Some of them are already known thanks to good management on social media.

However, the reality is that using social media to manage a business is not without faults. There are still many users who have not been able to manage business with good ethics. The resulting effect is the impression of consumers or potential consumers in viewing or reviewing the products offered.

The following are several violations of business ethics in managing business in the digital era, including:

1. Fraud

The most important essence in business or trade is honesty in transactions. In many cases of online transactions, sellers are not transparent to consumers. In this case the seller is dishonest about the condition of the goods, does not give full rights to the consumer for the product he bought. This is of course very disappointing to consumers, and consumers can return goods or cause consumer complaints that affect store ratings (if online stores).

2. Using Other People's Product Photos

What happens if the product purchased online is not the same as the photo? It must be very disappointing right? Usually this often happens because business people use photos of other people's products to post on their social media. As a result, the goods that reach the customer will definitely be different. Avoid doing this if you don't want to lose customers in an instant. Understand that maintaining business is impacted by many customers making more than one purchase. Always prioritize honesty in doing business, especially in terms of quality if you really want your business to continue to grow bigger.

3. Stealing business ideas

One of the serious violations committed by business competitors is stealing business ideas. Of course the risk borne by Confidentiality will be very burdensome if the Trade Right holder sues the action. Perpetrators of theft of business ideas can be subject to criminal sanctions in accordance with Article 17 paragraph (1) of Law Number 30 of 2000 concerning Trade Secrets, namely: "Anyone who deliberately and without right uses another party's Trade Secret or commits an act as referred to in Article 13 or Article 14 shall be punished with imprisonment for a maximum of 2 (two) years and/or a fine of a maximum of Rp. 300,000,000.00 (three hundred million rupiah).

4. Not Active and Not Creative

So that you don't regret it later, one of the requirements for a business to develop is creativity and activity. A business will develop if there are always innovations carried out in it. Take care to stay creative and active in your business. If on social media, you have to create content that is interesting and not monotonous.

5. Randomly Tag

Apart from spamming in the form of comments, often business people also do things like random tag potential customers. Tagging actually allows the people you've tagged to see what you're selling. However, instead of buying, they can actually get annoyed and what happens is the opposite, namely removing you from the friend list on social media. Of course you don't want to lose potential customers because of this action, do you?
