Sargon I

Sargon I (juga ditulis sebagai Šarru-kīn I dan Sharru-ken I) merupakan seorang raja (Išši’ak Aššur, "Pelayan Assur") dari Kekaisaran Asyur Kuno dari sekitar tahun 1920 SM — skt. 1881 SM. Di Daftar Raja Asyur, Sargon muncul sebagai putra dan penerus Ikunum, serta ayahanda dan pendahulu Puzur-Ashur II.

Nama “Sargon” berarti “raja itu sah” di dalam bahasa Akkadia.[1] Sargon I mungkin dinamakan seperti Sargon dari Akkadia,[2] yang mungkin mencerminkan sejauh mana Sargon I diidentifikasi dengan Dinasti Akkadia yang bergengsi.

Sargon I dikenal karena karyanya mengukuhkan kembali Assur.[3] Sangat sedikit yang diketahui tentang Sargon I.[2]
