Said bin Ahmad (meninggal tahun 1803) sempat menjadi Imam dan Sultan Oman kedua, dari dinasti Al Busaid, yang memerintah negara tersebut antara tahun 1783 sampai tahun 1786.[butuh rujukan]

Pemerintahan

Said bin Ahmad adalah putra Imam dan Sultan Ahmad bin Said al-Busaidi, dan terpilih sebagai Imam setelah ayahnya meninggal pada tahun 1783. Suksesi tidak terbantahkan, dan Said mengambil alih ibu kota, Rustaq.

Saudara laki-lakinya Saif dan Sultan bin Ahmad meminta Syeikh Sakar dari kelompok suku Syamal untuk membantu mereka mendapatkan takhta.

Syeikh Sakar merebut kota Hamra, Shargah, Rams dan Khor Fakan. Said melawan, tetapi tidak mampu merebut kembali kota-kota tersebut.

Namun, Saif dan Sultan merasa terlalu berbahaya bagi mereka untuk tetap tinggal di Oman. Saif berlayar ke Afrika Timur, berniat menjadikan dirinya sebagai penguasa di sana.[1] Dia meninggal di sana segera setelahnya. Sultan bin Ahmad melarikan diri ke Gwadar di pantai Makran, Balochistan.[2]

Turun tahta

Imam semakin tidak populer. Sekitar akhir tahun 1785 sekelompok tokoh memilih saudaranya, Qais bin Ahmad. Pemberontakan ini segera pecah.[3]

Kemudian salah satu putra Said ditahan di Benteng Al Jalali selama beberapa waktu oleh gubernur Muskat. Putranya yang lain, Hamad bin Said, datang untuk bernegosiasi dengan gubernur. Hamad dan para pengikutnya berhasil menguasai benteng al-Jalali dan al-Mirani, dan juga Muskat.[4]

Hal ini terjadi pada tahun 1786. Satu demi satu benteng-benteng lain di Oman tunduk kepada Hamad, hingga Said tidak lagi mempunyai kekuasaan sementara.[5]

Hamad mengambil gelar Syeikh dan mendirikan istananya di Muskat. Said bin Ahmad tetap tinggal di Rustaq dan tetap mempertahankan gelar Imam, namun gelar tersebut murni simbolis agama yang tidak mempunyai kekuatan apa pun.[6]
