Ryōhei Uchida

Ryōhei Uchida (内田 良平, Uchida Ryōhei, 11 Februari 1873 – 26 Juli 1937) adalah seorang ahli teori politik ultranasionalis, Pan-Asianis dan ahli seni bela diri asal Jepang yang aktif sebelum perang Kekaisaran Jepang.

Biografi

Uchida lahir di Prefektur Fukuoka. Dia adalah putra dari praktisi Shinto Muso-ryu, Ryōgorō Uchida,[1] dan sejak usia dini sudah tertarik dengan berbagai jenis seni bela diri tradisional Jepang, seperti kyūdō, kendo, judo dan sumo. Tahun 1895, ia kuliah di Universitas Toyogo, mengambil jurusan bahasa Rusia dan pada tahun 1897, ia melakukan perjalanan ke Siberia.

Sebagai seorang pemuda, Uchida bergabung dengan kelompok nasionalis Gen'yōsha dan segera menjadi murid terkemuka dari pendirinya, Tōyama Mitsuru. "Genyosha" aktif dalam menggalang dana dan melakukan agitasi agar Jepang menjalankan kebijakan luar negeri yang lebih agresif terhadap daratan Asia. Ketika Pemberontakan Donghak meletus di Korea tahun 1894, dia pergi ke Korea untuk membantu para pemberontak.

Setelah kembali ke Jepang tahun 1901, ia mendirikan Black Dragon Society, sebuah perkumpulan ultranasionalis yang menganjurkan kebijakan luar negeri yang aktif terhadap Rusia dan ekspansionisme Jepang terhadap Korea dan Manchuria. Tahun 1903, ia bergabung dengan "Tairo Doshikai", sebuah kelompok politik yang menganjurkan perang melawan Rusia. Setelah Perang Rusia-Jepang usai, Uchida mengalihkan perhatiannya ke arah aneksasi Korea. Dia merupakan salah satu sponsor partai politik Iljinhoe yang pro-Jepang di Korea tahun 1907. Selama tahun 1920-an hingga 1930-an, dia aktif menyerang liberalisme dalam masyarakat dan politik Jepang. Uchida ditangkap tahun 1925, karena dicurigai merencanakan pembunuhan Perdana Menteri Jepang Katō Takaaki dan Kaisar Yoshihito, tetapi akhirnya ia dinyatakan tidak bersalah.
