Robin Tunney (lahir 19 Juni 1972) merupakan seorang aktris berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat. Dia dilahirkan di Chicago, orangtuanya keturunan Irlandia. Dia berkarier di dunia film sejak 1992. Dia dikenal karena perannya sebagai Teresa Lisbon di serial televisi The Mentalist (2008–2015) dan perannya sebagai Veronica Donovan di Prison Break (2005–2006). Pada 2006, ia mendapat pujian kritis atas perannya sebagai korban pelecehan seksual dalam drama independen berjudul Open Window.[1]

Kehidupan awal

Tunney lahir di Chicago, Illinois dari ayah seorang penjual mobil bernama Patrick, dan ibunya yang bekerja sebagai bartender bernama Cathy.[2][3] Ayah Tunney lahir di Straide, County Mayo, Irlandia, sedangkan kakek nenek dari pihak ibu berasal dari Pulau Clare.[4] Tunney dibesarkan di Orland Park, pinggiran barat daya Chicago. Dia dibesarkan sebagai seorang Katolik,[5] menghadiri Saint Ignatius College Prep di Chicago dan Chicago Academy for the Arts di Chicago,[6] dan tinggal di Palos Heights, Chicago.[7]

Karier

Tunney pindah ke Los Angeles dan berhasil mendapatkan peran dalam Class of '96, Law & Order, Dream On, dan Life Goes On. Dia mendapatkan kesuksesan untuk perannya sebagai Sarah Bailey di film berjudul The Craft.[8][9][10]

Tunney kemudian menerima peran untuk film berjudul Niagara, Niagara. Ia berhasil memenangkan Piala Volpi di Festival Film Internasional Venesia 1997 untuk perannya tersebut.[11][12][13]

Tunney juga tampil berlawanan dengan Arnold Schwarzenegger dalam film aksi supernatural End of Days.[14][15] Dia kemudian berperan sebagai bintang tamu dalam episode pilot serial TV House sebagai instruktur taman kanak-kanak yang pingsan di tengah pelajaran, mengakibatkan kondisi aphasic.[16]

Dia juga memerankan Veronica Donovan di musim pertama Prison Break. Ia kemudian bermain sebagai Teresa Lisbon dalam serial berjudul The Mentalist yang memiliki 7 musim.[17][18][19] Tunney juga mendapatkan peran dalam serial ABC berjudul The Fix.[20]

Kehidupan pribadi

Tunney menikah dengan produser dan sutradara Bob Gosse pada 4 Oktober 1995, dan bercerai pada 2006.[21] Tunney bertunangan dengan penulis dan sutradara Australia Andrew Dominik dari 2009 hingga 2010.[22][23]

Tunney bertunangan dengan Nicky Marmet pada 25 Desember 2012, saat berlibur di Rio de Janeiro.[24] Mereka memiliki dua anak.[25][26]
