Richard dari Bourgogne (meninggal tahun 921) merupakan seorang Comte Autun dari tahun 880 dan Markgraf dan Adipati Bourgogne yang pertama. Ia akhirnya mendapatkan kekuasaan raja atas seluruh kadipaten Bourgogne menyelamatkan Mâcon dan pada tahun 890 ia ditunjuk sebagai dux (adipati) dan pada tahun 900 sebagai marchio (markgraf). Pada tahun 918 ia disebut sebagai dux Burgundionem atau dux Burgundiae, yang barangkali menandakan keberadaan kecil kadipaten Bourgogne yang dipersatukan daripada kedudukan raja feodal atas keserbaragaman kadipaten tersebut di dalam wilayah yang spesifik.

Richard adalah anggota keluarga Wangsa Bosonid, putra Bivin dari Gorze dan Richildis. Kakandanya adalah Boson dari Provence dan saudarinya adalah Richildis, istri kedua Karl yang Botak.

Pada tahun 875, setelah kematian Ludwig II dari Italia, Richard dan Boson menemani Karl ke Italia untuk naik tahta kerajaannya. Pada bulan Februari 876, di Pavia, ketika mempersiapkan perjalanan pulangnya, Karl menunjuk Boson sebagai "Adipati dan raja muda Italia dan Adipati Provence." Pada tahun 877, setelah kematian Karl, Boson kembali ke Prancis dan mengakui kerajaan Italia dan kadipaten Provence ke Richard dan Hugues sebagai missi dominici.

Pada tahun 879, Boson menamakan dirinya sendiri sebagai "Raja Provence" setelah kematian Louis II dari Prancis, namun Richard membelot dari Boson dan mengambil kadipaten Autun darinya, yang diserahkan Carloman II kepadanya pada tahun 880. Keduanya bergabung di dalam perang di Saône dan Richard menduduki Mâcon dan menggarnisunkannya atas nama Carloman dan Louis III dibawah perintah Bernard Plantevelue, seorang kerabat Comte Mâcon turun temurun. Setelah mengambil Lyon, ia menduduki ibu kota saudaranya di Wina, dimana ia bergabung dengan Louis, Carloman, dan kaisar Karl III. Setelah kematian Karl III pada tahun 888, Richard mendukung tuntutan Rodolphe dari Bourgogne menjadi Raja Bourgogne Transjurania dan menikahi saudarinya Adelaide, putri Konrad II. Richard juga mendukung pemahkotaan keponakannya Louis sebagai Raja Provence pada tahun 890.

Richard meninggal dan dimakamkan di Sens. Ia didesak oleh seorang uskup ketika menjelang ajalnya untuk meminta ampun atas pertumpahan darah yang dilakukannya di sepanjang hidupnya. Ia menjawab:

Ketika aku mati sebagai seorang perampok, Aku menyelamatkan hidup orang-orang jujur, kematian dari salah satunya membantu mencegah antek-anteknya dari perbuatan yang lebih jahat.
