Reggae rock adalah subgenre reggae fusion dan musik rok yang terutama menggunakan genre reggae, rok dan ska. Lirik khas lagu-lagu reggae rock menggabungkan cinta, kesadaran pribadi, dan tantangan hidup sambil menggabungkan musik dan elemen ketukan rok, punk, dan hip-hop.[1] Istilah "reggae rock" telah digunakan untuk mengkategorikan grup musik seperti The Police, Sublime, Sublime with Rome, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, The Expendables, Iration, the Dirty Heads, Rebelution, 311 dan, sampai batas tertentu, grup musik yang lebih berat seperti Fishbone dan Bad Brains. Istilah "reggae metal" telah digunakan untuk menggambarkan grup musik yang menggabungkan reggae rock dengan heavy metal, seperti Dub War, Shinobi Ninja, Skindred, Twelve Foot Ninja dan Zeroscape.[2] Reggae rock menemukan kenaikan popularitasnya pada 1990-an di Long Beach, California, dengan grup musik Sublime. Genre ini akhir-akhir ini mendapatkan peningkatan popularitas dengan lagu 2010 "Lay Me Down" oleh Dirty Heads yang menampilkan Rome Ramirez dari Sublime with Rome, yang memuncak di nomor 1 di tangga lagu Billboard Alternative Songs dan Rock Songs AS.[3][4]

Dengan popularitas reggae rock yang meningkat, genre ini dimasukkan dalam Festival Musik & Seni California Roots perdana pada tahun 2010.[5]
