Reaksi Perkin adalah reaksi organik yang dikembangkan oleh ahli kimia Inggris, William Henry Perkin, yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan asam sinamat/ Reaksi ini menghasilkan asam aromatik α,β yang tidak jenuh lewat kondensasi aldol aldehida aromatik dengan anhidrida asam di tengah kehadiran garam alkali asam tersebut.[1][2] Garam alkali bertindak sebagai katalis basa, dan basa lain juga dapat digunakan.[3]

Mekanisme reaksi

Mekanisme reaksi di atas tidak diterima oleh semua dan terdapat beberapa versi lain, termasuk dekarboksilasi tanpa pemindahan kelompok asetat.[4]
