Pulau Tidore adalah sebuah pulau yang berada di Maluku Utara, Indonesia. Pulau ini terletak disebelah barat Pulau Halmahera, letak pulaunya yang sangat dekat dengan Ternate, perjalanan ke Tidore sendiri hanya memakan waktu sekitar 30 menit menggunakan speedboat dari Ternate. Transportasi lainnya (kapal Ferry dan Kapal Motor) yang beroperasi hingga sore hari. Di pulau ini juga dahulu pernah berdiri Kesultanan Tidore.
Sebelum masuknya Islam pulau Tidore dikenal dengan nama; “Limau Duko” atau “Kie Duko”, yang berarti pulau yang bergunung api. Penamaan ini sesuai dengan kondisi topografi Tidore yang memiliki gunung api --bahkan tertinggi di gugusan kepulauan Maluku yang mereka namakan gunung “Kie Marijang” dan "kie Maburu". Saat ini, gunung/kie Marijang sudah tidak aktif lagi, sedangakn kie Maburu masih aktif. Dua gunung api tersebut adalah gunung yang telah tua. Nama Tidore berasal dari gabungan tiga rangkaian kata bahasa Tidore, yaitu : To ado Re, artinya, ‘saya mungkin (telah) sampai’.
Terdapat 2 benteng peninggalan bangsa Portugis di Tidore, yaitu Benteng Tohulu dan Toware (Tore). Benteng tersebut hanya berupa sisa-sisa batu dan reruntuhan, tetapi dari luar (pantai) terlihat jelas bentuk benteng yang luas dan gagah. 2 benteng Portugis ini hancur karena diserang oleh Belanda diabad ke-17. 2 Benteng ini letaknya dibagian Barat laut pulau Tidore
Pulau Tidore sedikit lebih luas dibandingkan pulau Ternate. Tidore dan Ternate terletak bersebelahan, Tidore di sebelah selatan dan Ternate dibagian utara. Kedua pulau ini berada di barat pulau Halmahera. Tidore didominasi oleh Gunung Kie Matubu yaitu gunung berapi tua dengan ketinggian 1730 mdpl. Pulau Tidore telah memiliki jalan beraspal yang mengelilingi pantai pulau ini. Pantai paling terkenal di Tidore adalah pantai Tugulufa yang terletak 2 km dari Soasio
