Polewali adalah nama sebuah pulau kecil berpenghuni yang berada di gugusan Kepulauan Spermonde, perairan Selat Makassar dan secara administratif masuk pada wilayah Desa Mattiro Labangeng, Kecamatan Liukang Tupabbiring Utara, Kabupaten Pangkajene dan Kepulauan, Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia. Menurut data BPS dalam buku "Kota Makassar Dalam Angka, BPS, 2012", Pulau Polewali memiliki wilayah seluas 44.748,2081348 m2.[2] Sementara dalam data PMU Coremap Pangkep (2007), Pulau Polewali memiliki wilayah seluas 2 km².[1] Secara astronomis, pulau ini terletak di titik koordinat 4°50′41.000″LS,119°24′13.000″BT.[3] Pulau ini merupakan bagian dari Kawasan Konservasi Perairan Daerah Kabupaten Pangkajene dan Kepulauan dengan dasar hukum penetapannya melalui Surat Keputusan Bupati Pangkajene dan Kepulauan Nomor 290 Tahun 2015 yang diterbitkan pada tanggal 2 Maret 2015.

Demografi

Pulau Polewali dihuni oleh 164 jiwa. Secara etnisitas, penduduknya terdiri dari percampuran antara etnis Bugis dan Makassar demikian halnya dengan bahasa sehari-hari mereka (PMU Coremap Pangkep, 2007).
