Psikologi lintas budaya

Psikologi lintas budaya adalah cabang ilmu psikologi yang membahas mengenai perilaku dan proses mental yang terjadi pada manusia termasuk keberagaman dan kesamaannya dalam konteks kondisi kebudayaan yang berbeda. Psikologi lintas budaya melibatkan perbandingan tertentu yang terjadi pada suatu kebudayaan tertentu terhadap kebudayaan lain.[1] Hal ini termasuk informasi mengenai sejauh mana suatu kelompok masyarakat memiliki kesamaan dan perbedaan satu sama lain dan konsistensi di antara populasi atau komunitas yang berasal dari latar belakang kebudayaan yang berbeda.[2][3] Contoh psikologi lintas budaya adalah adanya pandangan bahwa beberapa kebudayaan ada yang menekankan akan pentingya hidup menyatu dengan komunitas dan juga terdapat beberapa kebudayaan yang mengedepankan hak-hak dan otoritas individu daripada kepentingan kelompok.[4] Para psikolog dan ahli di bidang psikologi lintas budaya pada umumnya menggunakan kebudayaan sebagai tolok ukur terhadap suatu keuniversalan suatu proses psikologis daripada menentukan bagaimana suatu praktik kebudayaan lokal tertentu membentuk proses mental pada suatu masyarakat.[5]
