Piramida Menkaure

Piramida Menkaure, berlokasi di Dataran Giza pada barat daya pinggiran kota Kairo, Mesir, adalah yang terkecil dari ketiga Piramida Giza. Piramida ini dibangun untuk menjadi makam Firaun dinasti keempat Mesir, Menkaure.

Ukuran dan konstruksi

Piramida Menkaure memiliki tinggi asli 65.5 meter (215 kaki). Saat ini, tingginya adalah 62 m (203 ft) dengan dasar 105 m (344 ft). Sudut kemiringannya adalah kira-kira 51°20′25″. Piramida ini dibangun dengan batu kapur and granit. Enam belas lapisan eksterior pertama terbuat dari granit merah. Bagian atasnya dilapisi batu gamping halus dari tambang batu kapur Tura, Mesir. Namun, ada sebagian dari batu granit yang digunakan masih dalam keadaan kasar. Di selatan piramida Menkaure terdapat tiga piramida satelit, yang disertai dengan kuil dan substrukturnya masing-masing.[1]

Usia dan lokasi

Tanggal pendirian piramida ini tidak diketahui, karena masa pemerintahan Menkaure belum ditentukan secara pasti, tetapi piramida ini kemungkinan diselesaikan semasa abad 26 SM.[2] Letaknya berjarak beberapa meter barat daya dari Piramida Khafre dan Piramida Agung Khufu yang merupakan tiga piramida besar di nekropolis Giza.[1]
