Pietas

Pietas, yang diterjemahkan menjadi "tugas", "relijiusitas"^[1] atau "perilaku agama",^[2] "loyalitas",^[3] dan "devosi" adalah salah satu nilai utama dalam masyarakat Romawi kuno. Kata tersebut merupakan nilai dari pahlawan pendiri Aeneas, yang sering kali diberikan epitet adjektival pius ("relijius") pada sepanjang epik Virgil Aeneid. Alam keramat pietas was ditubuhkan oleh personifikasi ilahi Pietas, seorang dewi yang sering muncul pada koin-koin Romawi. Sinonim bahasa Yunani-nya adalah eusebeia (εὐσέβεια).^[4]
