Permainan papan merupakan jenis permainan yang dimainkan di atas papan yang khas bagi permainan tersebut. Seperti hiburan lainnya, permainan papan dapat menggambarkan subyek apapun.

Di tingkat dasar, terdapat banyak jenis dan gaya permainan papan, termasuk yang tak memiliki tema tak terpisah - seperti dam Inggris — begitupun permainan yang lebih rumit dengan subyek yang lebih jelas atau malahan naratif seperti Cluedo.

Permainan papan sudah ada sejak zaman kuno, misalnya pada peradaban Jiroft dan Mesir Kuno pada milenium ke-3 SM.[1][2][3] Banyak permainan papan sekarang hadir dalam bentuk komputer, yang dapat termasuk komputer itu sendiri sebagai salah satu dari beberapa pemain, maupun lawan tunggal. Beberapa permainan papan menggunakan komponen sebagai tambahan - atau pengganti - papan dan pemain.
