Penyuluhan

Penyuluhan adalah turunan dari kata exstension yang dipakai secara luas dan umum dalam bahasa Indonesia penyuluhan berasal dari kata dasar suluh yang berarti pemberi terang ditengah kegelapan.[1] Dalam bahasa Belanda penyuluhan disebut Voorlichting yang berarti memberi penerangan untuk menolong seseorang menemukan jalannya, dalam bahasa Inggris dan jerman mengistilahkan penyuluhan sebagai pemberian saran atau Beratung yang berarti seseorang dapat memberikan petunjuk bagi seseorang tetapi seseorang tersebut yang berhak untuk menentukan pilihannya.[2]

Penyuluhan pertanian secara umum adalah proses pendidikan nonformal yang diberikan kepada keluarga tani dengan tujuan agar petani dapat memecahkan masalahnya sendiri kususnya dalama bidang pertanian dan meningkatkan pendapatan nya. Pengertian penyuluhan pertanian menurut Mardikantoro,1993 adalah proses penyebaran informasi yang berkaitan dengan upaya perbaikan cara-cara berusahatani demi tercapainya pendapatan dan perbaikan kesejahteraan keluarganya.[3] Pengertian penyuluhan pertanian menurut salmon 1972 penyuluhan pertanian adalah sistem pendidikan luar sekolah untuk petani dan keluarganya.[3] Menurut Van Den Ban 1999 penyuluhan adalah keterlibatan seseorang untuk melakukan komunikasi informasi secara sadar dengan tujuan membantu sesamanaya memberikan pendapat sehingga bisa membuat keputusan yang benar [4]

Undang-Undang yang mengatur tentang penyuluhan tercantum dalam uu no 16 tahun 2006 tentang sistem penyuluhan pertanian,perikanan,kehutanan (SP3KP).[3] Tujuan dari penyuluhan adalah
