Pengeboman Sulu 2019 adalah sebuah tragedi pengeboman terhadap Gereja Katedral Bunda Maria dari Gunung Karmel di Jolo, Sulu, Filipina oleh kelompok militan Islam, Abu Sayyaf. Tragedi ini terjadi pada hari Minggu pagi, 27 Januari 2019. Ledakan ini menewaskan sedikitnya 27 orang dan 77 orang terluka. Korban tewas terdiri dari 7 tentara Filipina dan 20 warga sipil. Sedangkan yang terluka yang baru teridentifikasi sebanyak 16 orang pasukan keamanan pemerintah dan 61 orang warga sipil.[5]

Kronologi

Bom meledak kali pertamanya saat berada di dalam Katedral Bunda Maria dari Gunung Karmel saat misa sedang berlangsung, sekitar jam 8:45 waktu setempat. Sesudah itu, bom kedua meledak di area parkir Katedral pada saat pasukan gegana berusaha mengatasi ledakan bom pertama.

Direktur di Direktorat Jenderal Kepolisian Nasional Filipina masih menyelidiki identitas pelaku. Polisi juga sedang menyelidiki dugaan kasus ini terkait dengan pemungutan suara yang baru usai digelar di selatan untuk pembentukan otonomi Bangsamoro. Atas tragedi teesebut, Angkatan Bersenjata Filipina mengutuk serangan ini dengan menyebutnya sebagai serangan pengecut di Jolo. Menurut Juru bicara angkatan bersenjata Filipina, Edgard Arevalo, tentara akan berkoordinasi dengan kepolisian untuk mencari bukti dan mengidentifikasi tersangka. Channel News Asia melaporkan, belum ada satu pihak pun yang mengaku bertanggung jawab atas dua ledakan bom di gereja Katedral di Jolo. Kota Jolo merupakan markas pertahanan kelompok milisi bersenjata Abu Sayyaf yang dikenal reputasinya melakukan pengeboman, penyanderaaan, dan perompakan. Abu Sayyaf juga telah menyatakan diri berbaiat dengan ISIS.
