Pemilihan parlemen di Korea Utara adalah pemilihan untuk membentuk Majelis Tertinggi Rakyat ke-13 yang diadakan pada 9 Maret 2014.^[1] Di antara kandidat dalam pemilu ini adalah Kim Jong-un untuk dapil Paektusan (Gunung Paektu).

Pemilu Korea Utara tak lebih dari sebuah ajang untuk memantau adanya benih-benih perlawanan rakyat. Biasanya, warga diarahkan ke TPS oleh para kepala komite wilayah. Di sepanjang jalan banyak dipasang poster yang menganjurkan warga untuk memilih. Di TPS, sebelum memilih, warga harus membungkuk untuk memberi hormat kepada foto keluarga Kim.

Pemilihan umum juga berfungsi sebagai sensus penduduk. Pemerintah memeriksa daftar pemilih dan jika nama seseorang tak tercantum dalam daftar itu, maka orang itu akan diselidiki.

Sejak sistem distribusi makanan negara itu hancur akibat bencana kelaparan pada 1990an, cara lama untuk melacak warga negara tak lagi bisa berfungsi. Saat itu, para kepala komite setempat mengawasi ketat rakyatnya. Namun, saat ini setelah warga Korea Utara bebas bepergian di dalam negeri, cara itu tak bisa lagi digunakan.

Dengan demikian, pemilu menjadi satu-satunya cara untuk mengawasi rakyat secara berkala. Untuk mengikuti pemilu, warga Korea Utara harus mendaftarkan diri sebulan sebelumnya.
