Pembunuhan demi kehormatan

Pembunuhan demi kehormatan atau pembunuhan karena rasa malu[1] adalah pembunuhan terhadap seorang anggota dari sebuah keluarga oleh para anggota lainnya, karena pelakunya meyakini bahwa korban telah melakukan tindakan memalukan atau tidak terhormat terhadap keluarga tersebut, atau melanggar prinsip-prisnip masyarakat atau agama, biasanya untuk alasan-alasan seperti menolak ikut pernikahan perjodohan, menjalin hubungan yang tak disepakati oleh keluarganya, melakukan hubungan di luar nikah, menjadi korban pemerkosaan, berbusana dengan cara yang tak dikehendaki, melakukan hubungan non-heteroseksual atau murtad (pindah agama).[2][3][4][5][6]

Keberadaan

Peristiwa pembunuhan kehormatan sangat sulit ditentukan dan perkiraannya sangat beragam. Di kebanyakan negara, data tentang pembunuhan kehormatan tidak dikumpulkan secara sistematis, dan beberapa pembunuhan tersebut dikabarkan oleh keluarga tersebut sebagai bunuh diri atau kecelakaan dan alasan semacamnya.[7][8][9] Meskipun pembunuhan kehormatan sering kali dikaitkan dengan benua Asia, khususnya Timur Tengah dan Asia Selatan, hal ini terjadi di seluruh dunia.[10][11] Pada 2000, Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa memperkirakan bahwa 5,000 wanita menjadi korban pembunuhan kehormatan sepanjang tahun.[12] Namun, menurut BBC "Kelompok advokasi wanita menyatakan bahwa lebih dari 20,000 wanita tewas di dunia sepanjang tahun."[13] Pembunuhan tersebut tak hanya berbentuk kejahatan kehormatan, kejahatan-kejahatan lainnya seperti serangan asam, penculikan, mutilasi, dan penikaman pun terjadi; pada 2010, kepolisian Inggris mencatat sekitar 2,823 kejahatan semacam itu.[14]
