Pemain tengah (bahasa Inggris: center big man) dalam permainan basket adalah pemain dengan tubuh terbesar atau tertinggi di tim yang mengambil posisi di area garis tembakan bebas (free-throw line).[1] Salah satu kemampuan utama yang harus dimiliki seorang pemain tengah adalah memanfaatkan punggungnya untuk menghalangi lawan dan menangkap bola pantul yang tidak masuk ke ring (rebound).[1] Kelebihan dari seorang pemain tengah yang berpostur tinggi adalah menyulitkan lawan dalam mencetak skor dari dekat ring.[2]

Pemain tengah akan banyak melakukan tembakan dari daerah dekat ring dan hal ini biasanya menghasilkan banyak pelanggaran dari lawan yang mencoba menghalangi.[3] Oleh karena itu, pemain tengah sering mendapat kesempatan melakukan lemparan bebas.[3] Suatu tim yang baik harus mengatur permainan supaya bola basket dapat dioper ke pemain tengah. Hal ini dikarena, tembakan yang berasal dari jarak dekat memiliki persentase keberhasilan yang cukup tinggi dibandingkan tembakan dari luar jarak 10 kaki.[3] Selain mencetak skor, kemampuan lain yang harus dikuasai oleh pemain tengah adalah melakukan blok atau menghalangi tembakan lawan (blocked-shot).[4] Beberapa pemain tengah yang terkenal dalam sejarah NBA adalah Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, Shaquille O'Neal, dan Alonzo Mourning.[4]
