Pecuk-ular asia (bahasa Latin = Anhinga melanogaster) adalah salah satu spesies burung Pecuk ular. Burung ini merupakan jenis burung pemakan ikan yang memiliki habitat di pada genangan air luas, danau, sungai besar. tersebar sampai ketinggian 1.400 m dpl.

Ciri-ciri

Pecuk-ular asia memiliki tubuh berukuran besar (84 cm). Burung air seperti pecuk dengan leher ramping dan sangat panjang.[4] Kepala sempit kecil. Kepala dan leher coklat, ada setrip dagu putih sepanjang leher. Bulu bagian lain kehitaman, bulu penutup putih halus dengan pinggir hitam. Iris coklat, paruh coklat kekuningan, kaki keabu-abuan. Mampu menyelam dalam jangka waktu lama. Mampu mengurangi daya apung, yang tampak hanya kepala saja waktu berenang. Bulu menyerap air, mengepakkan sayap dan berlari di atas air saat akan terbang. Bertengger lama untuk mengeringkan bulu. Berkumpul dalam kelompok di atas pohon gundul. Bersarang dalam koloni bersama burung air lain. Sarang berupa tumpukan ranting pada pohon tinggi dekat pantai. Telur berwarna keputih-putihan, jumlah 2-4 butir. Berbiak bulan Desember-Maret, Maret-Juni.

  • Sumatra, Kalimantan, Jawa, Bali, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Papua.
