Panzergranate 40

Panzergranate 1940 (atau PzGr. 40 dan Pzgr. 40) adalah salah satu jenis peluru yang digunakan pada Perang Dunia II. Bervariasi dalam kaliber, jenis peluru ini adalah jenis peluru yang dipakai secara khusus untuk menembus lapisan baja tank musuh yang tebal. Secara fisik terlihat mirip dengan PzGr. 39, dan bisa ditembakkan dari meriam tank (KwK), pemburu tank (PjK) dan antitank (PaK). Ada beberapa perubahan yang terjadi seiring perang berlangsung.

Struktur dan penggunaan

Berbeda dengan PzGr. 39 (APCBC-HE-T), PzGr. 40 tidak memiliki isian bahan peledak (HE), karena peluru ini berperan murni sebagai proyektil energi kinetik, dan akan termasuk dalam kategori peluru APCBC (bahasa Inggris: Armour Piercing, Capped, Ballistic Cap; penembus zirah, bertudung dan bertudung balistik).
