Pantherinae adalah subfamili dalam famili Felidae; dinamakan dan pertama kali dijelaskan oleh Reginald Innes Pocock pada 1917 yang hanya memasukkan spesies-spesies Panthera.[2] Pantherinae terdivergensi secara genetis dari nenek moyang bersama antara 9,32 hingga 4,47 juta tahun silam dan 10,67 hingga 3,76 juta tahun silam.[3][4]
