Pacu Kude

Pacu Kude adalah tradisi pacuan kuda yang dilakukan oleh Suku Gayo di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Tradisi pacu kuda ini dilaksanakan di Dataran Tinggi Gayo tiap bulan Agustus pada hari peringatan kemerdekaan Indonesia dan bulan Februari pada hari ulang tahun Takengon. Pacu Kude pertama kali diadakan pada tahun 1850 di sisi timur Danau Laut Tawar, Kecamatan Bintang. Luas lahan yang digunakan untuk pacuan kuda adalah 1,5 kilometer.[1]

Sejarah

Pacu kude pertama kali digelar pada tahun 1850. Panjang lintasan yang digunakan mencapai 1,5 kilometer. Lintasan dimulai dari Wikip dan berakhir di Menye dengan jalur lurus memanjang. Pacu Kude diadakan setelah padi selesai dipanen. Kuda-kuda yang dipacu ditangkap harus dipacu menggunakan sarung. Pacu Kude mulai menjadi acara tahunan sejak tahun 1930.[2]

Perlombaan

Dalam Pacu Kude, para joki harus berusia antara 10-16 tahun. Kuda dipacu tanpa menggunakan pelana. Para peserta juga tidak perlu memakai pelindung tubuh apapun dan hanya mengenakan pakaian biasa.[3]
