"Nothing but Trouble" merupakan sebuah lagu yang dinyanyikan oleh rapper asal AS Lil Wayne dan penyanyi Amerika Charlie Puth. Lagu ini dirilis pada 29 Juni 2015 oleh Big Beat Records dan Atlantic Records untuk dokumenter 808: The Music.[1] Lagu ini merupakan singel promosi pertama untuk lagu tema dari dokumenter 808: The Film yang disutradarai oleh Alexander Dunn dan mengisahkan tentang cerita inspiratif mesin drum Roland TR-808. Lagu ini mulai muncul di platform iTunes dan Spotify pada 30 Juni 2015 lalu. Lirik lagu ini memberikan peringatan mengenai bahaya yang dapat timbul dari model Instagram.

Latar belakang

Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan majalah Complex, Charlie Puth mengungkapkan bahwa proses pembuatan lagu ini berawal dari temannya di Berklee yang mengirimkannya sebuah video paduan suara gereja menyanyikan harmoni yang luar biasa besar. Hal tersebut menginspirasi Charlie Puth untuk membuat lagu ini seolah bertemakan paduan suara. Dari segi lirik, pada wawancara yang sama Charlie Puth menyebutkan bahwa inspirasi lirik lagu ini bermula ketika ia sedang berbincang dengan temannya tersebut di 7-Eleven dan temannya baru saja putus dengan kekasihnya yang merupakan seorang model. Ketika sedang berbincang tersebut, Charlie Puth tanpa sengaja mengatakan "Man! These Instagram models are nothing but trouble". Di malam yang sama ketika kembali ke rumah, Charlie pun merekam bagian refrain lagu ini dengan lirik yang diucapkannya dan latar musik paduan suara tersebut. Kemudian, selebihnya dikelola oleh Lil Wayne dengan permainan kata yang luar biasa jenius.[2]
