Pada Tata nama biologi, Nomen dubium (Latin untuk "Nama yang meragukan", jamak nomia dubia) merujuk kepada nama ilmiah dengan penggunaan yang tidak diketahui atau meragukan.
Dalam zoologi, sebuah nama dapat masuk kedalam kategori nama ini bila tidak memungkinkan untuk menentukan dimana kelompok yang harus dimasukkan untuk suatu spesies. Hal ini dapat terjadi bila spesies tipe aslinya (i.e. holotipe, sintipe, isotipe, maupun paratipe) hilang atau hancur. Sebuah nama juga mampu masuk kedalam kategori ini bila tipe bernamanya tidak lengkap atau tidak memiliki fitur tubuh pembeda yang menonjol. Dalam kasus tersebut, kode zoologi dan botani memperbolehkan untuk memiliki spesimen tipe baru (neotipe).
75.5. Pergantian dari tipe bernama yang tak bisa diidentifikasi dengan sebuah neotipe. Saat penulis mempertimbangkan bahwa identitas taksonomi dari suatu takson kelompok-spesies nominal tidak bisa ditentukan dari tipe penyandang-nama yang sudah ada (dalam kata lain, namanya merupakan sebuah nomen dubium), serta kestabilan atau keuniversalannya terancam dengan demikian, penulis dapat meminta Komisi untuk dikesampingkan di bawah kekuasaan paripurnanya [Art. 81] tipe penyandang-nama yang ada serta menunjuk sebuah neotipe.[1]
