Museu do Ipiranga

Museu Paulista di Universitas São Paulo, yang umumnya dikenal sebagai Museu do Ipiranga, adalah sebuah museum sejarah Brasil yang terletak di dekat tempat Kaisar Pedro I memproklamasikan kemerdekaan Brasil di tepi sungai Ipiranga di wilayah Tenggara kota São Paulo, yang saat itu dikenal sebagai "Caminho do Mar," atau jalan menuju pantai. Karya seni paling terkenal dalam koleksi ini adalah lukisan tahun 1888 berjudul Independência ou Morte (Kemerdekaan atau Kematian) karya Pedro Américo.

Beberapa bulan setelah Deklarasi Kemerdekaan Brasil, orang-orang mulai mengusulkan sebuah monumen di lokasi deklarasi tersebut, meskipun mereka tidak yakin tentang jenis bangunan peringatan yang akan dibangun. Pada tahun 1884, arsitek Italia Tommaso Gaudenzio Bezzi, yang disewa untuk mengembangkan proyek tersebut, memilih untuk membangun bangunan bergaya eklektik yang mirip dengan Istana Versailles Prancis dengan taman dan air mancur yang mengesankan dan terawat sempurna.

Museum Ipiranga dibuka kembali pada tahun 2022

Museum ini ditutup pada bulan Agustus 2013 untuk restorasi dan modernisasi besar-besaran. Pada bulan September 2022, museum ini dibuka kembali untuk umum.[1][2]
