Motor arus bolak-balik

Jenis industri motor arus bolak-balik dengan kotak terminal listrik di bagian atas dan poros putar keluaran di sebelah kiri. Motor tersebut banyak digunakan untuk pompa, blower, konveyor dan mesin industri lainnya.

Motor arus bolak-balik adalah motor listrik yang digerakkan oleh arus bolak-balik (AC). Motor AC biasanya terdiri dari dua bagian dasar, stator luar memiliki kumparan yang disuplai dengan arus bolak-balik untuk menghasilkan medan magnet yang berputar, dan rotor bagian dalam yang melekat pada poros keluaran yang menghasilkan medan magnet berputar kedua. Medan magnet rotor dapat diproduksi oleh magnet permanen, arti penting keengganan, atau belitan listrik DC atau AC.

Yang kurang umum, motor linier AC beroperasi dengan prinsip yang sama dengan motor yang berputar tetapi bagiannya yang diam dan bergerak diatur dalam konfigurasi garis lurus, menghasilkan gerakan linier alih-alih rotasi.

Teknologi arus bolak-balik berakar pada penemuan Michael Faraday dan Joseph Henry tahun 1830-31 bahwa medan magnet yang berubah dapat menyebabkan arus listrik dalam suatu rangkaian. Faraday biasanya diberikan penghargaan untuk penemuan ini sejak ia mempublikasikan temuannya terlebih dahulu.[1]
