Mostar merupakan sebuah kota di barat daya Bosnia-Herzegovina, pusat budaya dan ekonomi Herzegovina, dan pusat administrasi Kanton Herzegovina-Neretva, Federasi Bosnia dan Herzegovina. Kota ini memiliki luas wilayah 1.175 km². Pada tahun 2013, kota ini memiliki jumlah penduduk sebesar 113.169 jiwa,[1] menjadikannya kota terbesar kelima di Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Mostar dinamai menurut penjaga jembatan (mostari) yang menjaga Jembatan Tua (Stari Most) di atas Sungai Neretva yang melintasi kota. Jembatan Tua (Stari Most) ini dibangun pada abad ke-16 oleh Utsmaniyah, yang kemudian dihancurkan pada perang di Bosnia dan Herzegovina pada 9 November 1993 dan dibangun kembali pada tahun 2004.[2] Jembatan Tua adalah monumen budaya pertama Bosnia-Herzegovina yang masuk dalam daftar Situs Warisan Dunia UNESCO. Jembatan Tua dan Kota Tua Mostar yang telah dibangun kembali merupakan tanda rekonsiliasi, kerjasama internasional dan bukti bahwa masyarakat dari berbagai budaya, etnis dan agama yang beragam dapat hidup berdampingan.[3]
