Distrik kota Minato (港区, Minato-ku) adalah salah satu dari 23 distrik istimewa yang terletak di Tokyo tenggara, Jepang. Tokyo adalah sebuah prefektur sehingga kedudukan distrik kota Minato sama dengan sebuah kota. Di kota Minato terdapat tempat-tempat keramaian seperti Odaiba, Roppongi, Shiodome, dan Stasiun Shinagawa yang merupakan stasiun kereta api Shinkansen.

Kota ini ramai dengan kantor pusat perusahaan besar, kedutaan besar, dan perusahaan asing. Pusat perkantoran terdapat di Toranomon, Shinbashi, Shiba. Sementara Aoyama dan Akasaka merupakan pusat perdagangan. Permukiman mewah terdapat di Azabu dan Shirokanedai, dan pembukaan kawasan baru dilakukan di Shiodeome dan Odaiba.

Walaupun terletak di pusat kota Tokyo, kota Minato memiliki kawasan taman yang luas, termasuk di Istana Tōgū, Istana Akasaka (Geihinkan), Taman Shiba, dan kawasan hijau di Shirokanedai. Di kota Minato juga terdapat lebih dari 90 nama tempat yang mengandung kata "saka" (坂, lerengan, tanjakan).[1]

Geografi

Lebar kota dari utara ke selatan sekitar 5,5 km, dan panjang kota dari timur ke barat sekitar 6,6 km.[1] Di sebelah timur, kota Minato berbatasan dengan Teluk Tokyo. Di ujung sebelah utara, kota ini berbatasan dengan kota Chūō, di sebelah utara dengan kota Chiyoda dan Shinjuku. Di sebelah barat, kota ini berbatasan dengan Shibuya, di sebelah selatan dengan Shinagawa, dan di sebelah timur dengan kota Koto.

Sejarah

Kota Minato dibentuk 15 Maret 1947 dari hasil penggabungan distrik Akasaka, Azabu, dan Shiba.[2] Lambang distrik kota Minato ditetapkan 30 Juli 1949, berupa aksara hiragana untuk "mi" (み) yang berada di tengah lingkaran.[3]

Di kota Minato terdapat Sengaku-ji (makam empat puluh tujuh ronin), dan Zōjō-ji yang merupakan kuil keluarga klan Tokugawa. Kota Minato terletak di pinggiran kota Edo. Dulunya, daimyo yang sedang bertugas di ibu kota menjadikan kawasan ini sebagai lokasi membangun vila.

Selain Aula Suntory yang sering dijadikan tempat konser musik klasik, kota Minato memiliki Museum Seni Suntory, Pusat Seni Nasional Tokyo, Museum Seni Teien Tokyo Metropolitan, dan Museum Seni Nezu.
