Michael John Smith (30 April 1945 – 28 Januari 1986) adalah seorang insinyur dan antariksawan Amerika Serikat. Ia bertugas sebagai pilot pesawat ulang alik Challenger saat pesawat tersebut hancur dalam misi STS-51-L, saat pesawat tersebut meledak selama 73 detik dalam penerbangan, dan di ketinggian 48,000 kaki (14.6 km).[1] menewaskan seluruh 7 anggota kru. Suara Smith adalah suara yang terakhir kali terdengar pada rekaman suara Challenger[2]
