Medan Boediman

Medan Boediman merupakan surat kabar yang terbit perdana pada 4 Agustus 1915 di Yogyakarta. Koran ini merupakan surat kabar mingguan yang menyajikan bermacam-macam pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang disertai gambar sebagai penjelas penyampaiannya.[1]

Dalam edisi 24 November 1915, misalnya. Ketika Medan Boediman mengangkat judul “Matahari”, terpajang gambar matahari dengan noda-nodanya dan gambar gerhana matahari. Koran ini menggunakan gambar agar ilmu pengetahuan yang diajarkan mudah dipahami pembaca.[1]

Koran ini terdiri dari 12 halaman 8 rubrikasi yaitu “Dari medja redactie”, tempat redaksi berpendapat atas suatu fenomena yang sedang ber langsung; “Pendapatannja toean-toean Boediman”, berisi artikel-artikel para Boediman (sebutan untuk menyebut para tokoh Bumiputera yang menjadi pendukung Medan Boediman); dan “Fikiran dan timbangan”, berisi berita singkat yang dikutip dari surat kabar lain.[1]

Kemudian, “Pertimbangan baik atau tidak tentang boekoe-boekoe jang baharoe keloear”, berisi uraian singkat tentang buku-buku baru baik dalam bahasa Belanda maupun bahasa lainnya; “Pekabaran jang penting”, berita singkat tentang peristiwa-peristiwa penting; “Roepa roepa ilmoe”, berisi pelbagai pengetahuan seperti aturan-aturan negeri, adat istiadat, bahasa, wayang dan gamelan, ilmu tani, kerajinan, dagang, dan lain-lain. Lalu, “Soal dan djawab”, berisi surat dari pembaca serta jawaban redaksi; dan rubrik yang berisi ulasan singkat mengenai staatsblad dan gerakan ambtenaar yang penting.[1]

Selain itu, Medan Boediman juga menerima kiriman-kiriman berita atau pun artikel dari para Boediman. Redaksi juga memfasilitasi para Boediman yang ingin memberikan kritik dan saran yang ditujukan kepada pemerintah Hindia Belanda.[1]
