McCartney (album)

McCartney adalah album debut dari Paul McCartney, dirilis pada 17 April 1970 oleh Apple Records. McCartney merekamnya diam-diam, kebanyakan menggunakan peralatan home-recording dasar di rumahnya di St John's Wood. Pencampuran dengan beberapa rekaman berlangsung di studio profesional London. Dalam penampilannya yang diatur secara lebih santai, McCartney menghindari polesan rekaman The Beatles dan memilih gaya lo-fi. Terlepas dari kontribusi sesekali dari istrinya, Linda, McCartney membawakan seluruh album sendirian dengan overdubbing pada kaset empat lagu.

McCartney mulai merekam selama masa depresi dan kebingungan, setelah kepergian John Lennon dari The Beatles pada September 1969. Konflik atas perilisan album McCartney semakin menjauhkannya dari rekan bandnya, karena dia menolak untuk menunda album tersebut. Dan mengizinkan judul-judul yang dijadwalkan Apple sebelumnya, terutama album Let It Be dirilis. Siaran pers dalam bentuk wawancara diri yang disertakan dengan salinan promosi Inggris dari McCartney menyebabkan Pecahnya Beatles.

Di tahun-tahun selanjutnya, album ini dikreditkan karena berdampak pada musisi DIY dan penyanyi bergaya musik lo-fi.^[1]^[2] McCartney juga merekam dua album penerus: McCartney II (1980) dan McCartney III (2020).
