Mathematics Genealogy Project

Mathematics Genealogy Project adalah pangkalan data berbasis web yang berisi genealogi akademik matematikawan.[1][2][3] Pada 13 Februari 2019, pangkalan data ini mengandung informasi tentang 238.725 ilmuwan matematika yang menerbitkan penelitian matematika. Setiap entri matematikawan mencakup tahun lulus, judul tesis, alma mater, pembimbing doktoral, dan mahasiswa bimbingannya.[1][4]

Sejarah

Proyek ini berkembang karena perintisnya, Harry Coonce, ingin tahu nama pembimbing pembimbingnya.[1][2] Ketika proyek ini dimulai, Coonce menjabat sebagai guru besar matematika di Universitas Negeri Minnesota, Mankato. Proyek ini diaktifkan di Internet pada musim gugur 1997.[5] Coonce pensiun pada tahun 1999. Pada musim gugur 2002, universitas memutuskan bahwa mereka akan berhenti mendukung proyek ini. Proyek ini kemudian dipindahkan ke Universitas Negeri North Dakota. Sejak 2003, proyek ini diurus oleh American Mathematical Society. Tahun 2005, proyek ini mendapat hibah dari Clay Mathematics Institute.[1][3] Harry Coonce dibantu oleh Mitchel T. Keller Diarsipkan 2018-08-15 di Wayback Machine., lektor di Universitas Washington and Lee. Keller saat ini menjabat sebagai direktur pelaksana proyek.[6]
