Mahkota Silla

Mahkota Silla adalah mahkota yang dikenakan oleh penguasa Kerajaan Silla di Korea.^[1] Mahkota Silla ditemukan di makam-makam kuno di Gyeongju, bekas ibu kota kerajaan Silla.^[1]

Artefak-artefak mahkota pertama kali ditemukan pada tahun 1921 di Makam Geumgwan, dan kemudian ditemukan pula di situs makam Geumryeong, Chobong, dan Cheonma di Hwangnam. Mahkota terakhir ditemukan di situs makam Gyodong, Gyeongju. Keseluruhan mahkota emas ini berasal dari abad ke-5 sampai awal abad ke-6 dan terbuat dari emas murni.

Para ilmuwan menyebutkan bahwa terdapat 150 buah situs makam kuno di Gyeongju.^[1] Karena baru 30 buah makam saja yang diekskavasi, kemungkinan makam-makam lain masih menyimpan artefak mahkota.^[1] Saat ini, hanya terdapat 10 buah mahkota emas murni yang masih tersisa di dunia, 6 diantaranya adalah mahkota Silla dan 2 yang lain adalah mahkota kerajaan Gaya, kerajaan kecil yang ditaklukkan oleh Silla. Sebagian besar mahkota Asia Timur terbuat dari perunggu, sehingga mahkota Silla merupakan kontribusi penting bagi arkeologi Asia Timur.

Bentuk dasar mahkota Silla adalah ranting pohon atau tanduk rusa. Orang Silla menganggap pohon sebagai lambang penghubung antara surga dan bumi, dengan akar menancap dalam ke tanah, sementara rantingnya menggapai langit.^[1] Selain itu, pohon juga dianggap sebagai lambang kehidupan abadi karena selalu meremajakan dirinya sendiri. Orang Silla juga menganggap rusa sebagai binatang suci. Dalam budaya Korea, rusa adalah objek yang umum dalam karya-karya seni.^[1]

Pada mahkota terdapat ratusan ornamen bulat yang dikaitkan dengan kawat emas.^[1] Di antara ornamen-ornamen bulat tersebut digantungkan hiasan dari giok yang dinamakan gogok. Gogok diukir seperti embrio, merupakan lambang kesuburan, kelimpahan dan kehidupan abadi.
