Tumbuhan ini asli dari Tibet dan Yunnan di Tiongkok, Bhutan, India (Assam), Bangladesh, dan Asia Tenggara, termasuk Malesia bagian barat.[3] Sebagai pohon yang dapat mencapai tinggi 60 m (200 ft), tumbuhan ini biasanya ditemukan di hutan tropis basah pada ketinggian 550 sampai[convert: unit tak dikenal].[1]
