Freighter Prancis La Coubre meledak di pelabuhan Havana, Kuba, pada 4 Maret 1960 saat mengangkut 76 ton munisi. Korbannya berjumlah lebih dari 100 orang, dan beberapa diantaranya luka-luka. Fidel Castro menuduh kejadian tersebut adalah sebuah tindakan sabotase dari Amerika Serikat, yang menyangkal keterlibatan apapun.

Ledakan tersebut mengarah langsung ke sebuah dok di Havana yang berseberangan dengan kantor pelabuhan. Kapal-kapal dengan kargo semacam tiu terperosok ke tengah pelabuhan dan kargo berisiko tinggi menyala.[1] La Coubre, sebuah kapal Prancis 4,310-ton, mengangkut kargo seberat 76 ton munisi Belgia yang dibawa dari Antwerp ke Havana saat kapal tersebut meledak pukul 15:10 pada 4 March 1960. Tiga puluh menit setelah ledakan pertama, meskipun ratusan orang ikut dalam operasi penyelamatan yang diusung oleh militer Kuba, ledakan kedua yang lebih dahyat menyebabkan bertambahnya jumlah korban tewas dan luka-luka.[a]
