Kurigalzu I (meninggal skt. 1375 SM), biasanya bertuliskan ku-ri-gal-zu tapi terkadang dengan m atau d determinatif,[1] merupakan raja Kass ke-17 atau dinasti ketiga yang bertakhta di Babilon, ia bertanggung jawab atas satu dari program pembangunan yang paling luas dan tersebar luas dimana bukti bertahan di Babilonia. Otobiografi Kurigalzu adalah salah satu prasasti yang mencatat bahwa ia adalah putra Kadašman-Ḫarbe.[2] Galzu, yang kemungkinan pengucapan pribadinya adalah gal-du atau gal-šu, adalah nama yang oleh bangsa Kass menyebut diri mereka dan Kurigalzu dapat berarti Gembala Kass (baris 23. Ku-ur-gal-zu = Ri-'-i-bi-ši-i, di dalam daftar nama Babilonia).[3]

Ia dipisahkan dari tokoh yang bernama sama sepertinya, Kurigalzu II, sekitar empat puluh lima tahun dan karena bukan kebiasaan untuk menetapkan nomor regnal dan mereka berdua telah lama memerintah, hal ini membuat sangat sulit untuk membedakan untuk siapa prasasti yang dimaksud.[1] Namun raja kemudian lebih dikenal dengan kampanye militernya melawan bangsa Asyur daripada pekerjaan bangunan yang mungkin ia lakukan. Sekarang diperkirakan justru ialah Kurigalzu yang menaklukkan Susan dan mungkin berperan di dalam pengaruh dinasti atas Elam, skt. 1400 SM.[4]
