Komedi bersih

Komedi bersih adalah genre komedi yang umumnya bebas dari kata-kata kasar: rasisme, lelucon seksual, kata-kata yang merendahkan, kata-kata kotor, kecabulan, inses, obat-obatan terlarang, humor yang tidak senonoh, humor toilet, konten seksual yang eksplisit, dan materi yang tidak pantas serupa.[1][2][3][4] Komedian mungkin mencoba menghindari pembatasan komedi bersih dengan menggunakan sindiran, eufemisme, ucapan ganda, maksud ganda, dan bahasa yang netral gender. Komedi bersih belum tentu tidak provokatif.[5]

Komedi bersih dianggap oleh beberapa orang sebagai bentuk komedi yang lebih tinggi daripada komedi yang mengandalkan kejutan dari kata-kata kotor atau konten seksual untuk menimbulkan tawa.[1][6] Bob Newhart mengatakan dalam wawancara The Wall Street Journal bahwa membuat tertawa dari materi yang bersih "lebih sulit. Hanya saja lebih sulit...Saya mendapat kepuasan tertentu karena mendapat tanggapan dari penonton dan mengetahui bahwa saya telah melakukan sesuatu yang mungkin lebih sulit".[7] David Brenner berkata, "Banyak orang yang mengandalkan humor kotor melakukannya karena bahasa vulgar membantu menyebarkan lelucon yang lemah".[5]
