Kharmides

Kharmides (bahasa Yunani Kuno: Χαρμίδης, translit. Kharmídēs), anak Glaukon, adalah seorang negarawan Athena yang memerintah di abad ke-5 SM.^[1] Kharmides adalah paman Plato yang muncul dalam dialog Plato yang mengangkat namanya (Kharmides), Protagoras, dan Simposium, sebagaimana halnya Simposium Xenophon, Memorabilia, dan Hellenika.^[2] Kritias, yaitu seorang anak yatim piatu kaya yang diangkat oleh sepupu pertamanya; propertinya disita karena telah berperan dalam menodai Misteri Eleusis pada tahun 415 SM. Dia terdaftar sebagai salah satu dari Tiga Puluh Tiran yang memerintah Athena setelah kekalahannya dalam Perang Peloponnesos, tetapi bukti menunjukkan bahwa dia adalah salah satu dari sepuluh orang yang ditunjuk oleh Tiga Puluh Tiran tersebut untuk memerintah Piraeus. Dia terbunuh dalam Pertempuran Munichia pada tahun 403 SM ketika kaum demokrat kembali ke Athena.

Kharmides yang ini mungkin bukanlah pria yang sama dengan ayah seorang pematung besar Athena, Feidias, yang juga bernama Xarmides.^[3]
